Event Description

Hating Obamacare is not enough. It is becoming more entrenched every day, and is a huge threat to our state and our country. Please help me spread the word and push back by sending out the following.

Update: The current pressure for a Health Care Exchange in MI is coming from major insurance like BCBS, and Governor Snyder. Our conservative legislators need us to keep their backs. There's not much we can do about corporations, but we can let the governor feel the heat!

Action: Please sound off! Call weekly until this thing is dead.
Contact information for Gov. Snyder: 517-3737-3400
email: rick.snyder@michigan.gov

Suggested talking points:
An Exchange enables Obamacare down the road.
Healthcare is a service, not a right!
Centralized control of healthcare has already proven costly and ineffective.
Free market, decentralized solutions are available and should be implemented.
-remove state line barriers to competition in health insurance
-remove competition barriers like Certificate of Need requirements
-tort reform to decrease costs from lawsuit abuse and malpractice insurance
-privatize and/or spin down state medicaid and welfare programs
-deregulate to decrease provider costs
-reduce reliance on 3rd party payers by promoting HSA's, direct pay, and transparent pricing
10th Amendment: Healthcare is not a power granted to the Federal government by the Constitution. That means it's reserved to the states and the people. It's time for us to push back!

MI Attorney General Bill Schuette signed onto the Obamacare lawsuit, but has been conspicuously silent ever since. Contact: 517-373-1110 or

miag@michigan.gov

"I'm not asking if his name is on a piece of paper, I'm asking what he's doing now, today, to stop Obamacare in Michigan."

CALLING YOUR OWN IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA, HOWEVER THE POINT OF THIS IS TO FILL HILDENBRANDS VM WITH MESSAGES, AS HIS VOTE EFFECTS EVERYONE! ALSO WITH THE CHANGING DISTRICTS, IT SHOWS THAT WE ARE ALL KEEPING TRACK OF WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING.

Dave Hildenbrand is a GOP Senator who voted for the Exchange after campaigning as a strong conservative. If he's yours, please call him as suggested!

If you have another senator, you can find out how he voted here.

The ones who voted against the Exchange should really be hearing praise from us, because most of what hits them in Lansing is pressure from the other side.

CALL TO ACTION. BILL SCHUETTE HAS NO VOICEMAIL, HOWEVER DAVE HILDENBRAND DOES, 517-373-1801. MARK PETZOLD SUGGESTED THAT WE FILL HIS VOICEMAIL WITH (COURTEOUS) QUESTIONS AS TO HIS SUPPORT FOR THESE EXCHANGES.

EXPRESS CONCERN

ASK FOR INFORMATION AS TO WHY SO MANY VOTED FOR THIS

No problem, Abby, even if I did just sit there.

It was a public meeting. Pattie, thanks so much for coming! Knowing you'd be there really helped my nerves.

Somehow, I didn't expect 3 experienced legislators in the audience: Ken Yonker, Bob Genetski, and Fulton Sheen.  I hope they heard what they needed to hear; it was a little hard to target the conservative healthcare ideas to a group of mixed backgrounds. (But much easier than if Jones had been there!)

Thank you so much, Kris! I couldn't do it without people like you who "have my back'.

Pattie, that is an excellent question. I will find out. If it works, I'd be happy to meet you and drive. Call me? 896-0165

Anyone else who would like to come feel free to call, too!

I won't be able to have a physical presence there with you but will be there in spirit, I'm just thankful that the tea partiers do have a 'resident expert', you are such an asset to the cause! I hope Pattie can be your backup tonight.

Do you have to be a GOP member to attend?  I'm not a GOP member and have no desire to become one.

Also, where in Allegan County?  I don't know the county well and I work until 5:00 today, but I'll see what I can do.

Pattie and Kris--thx for asking! This is at the county level and he's the only Senator for that area. It's conservative enough there that the party county chair is following up on all the upset calls he's gotten. A really good guy,  who has clarified this is NOT a debate, thankfully. Sounds like a very supportive audience for our side, just looking for answers to all the misinformation floating about.

And he's been informed that I'm the resident expert (gulp). I have tomorrow off to pull things together, but it would be fabulous to have more backup! Major wish list: info on Jones' campaign contributions from medical/insurance sources. And more info on how much Obamacare $ MI has already accepted and spent, because that's one reason they're giving for why we need to form the exchange.

So if anyone is free Thurs eve I would be delighted to carpool! The meeting is 7-8:30 in Allegan, but I plan to come a little late. (Dad's surprise 70th B-day party :) It will be an awesome day all the way around.

What about you Abigail, do you need backup? I mean besides prayers?
